The Scottish Training Federation (STF) represents 96 training providers operating in the field of work based training across Scotland.
STF members comprise a broad mix of private training providers, group training associations, colleges, universities and local authority training departments, and cover a wide range of occupational areas, from traditional craft apprenticeships through to service sector occupations.
The majority of STF members are involved in the delivery of government funded training including Modern Apprenticeship activity in Scotland.
The principal qualifications delivered by STF members are Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ’s) and Modern Apprenticeships, together with Core Skill certification where core skills are not integral to the SVQ.
STF members work with a wide range of VQ awarding bodies, Sector Skills Councils (SSC’s) and Sector Skills Bodies (SSBs).
STF is widely regarded as the ‘voice of training providers’ operating in the work based training industry in Scotland and is frequently consulted by all of the key stakeholders including the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Qualification Authority, City and Guilds Scotland, Careers Scotland, LLUK and the Smith Group on matters relating to national policy on learning related to Lifelong Learning.
