Inverness College

Inverness College is the largest of the colleges in the Highlands and Islands, and the largest partner in the group of colleges and research institutions working together to form a university of the Highlands and Islands.  Through the partnership we are making it easier for people to take part in quality further and higher education across the Highlands and Islands.

Inverness College opened its first campus in Inverness in 1960 and has grown significantly over the years.  There are now 3 campuses in Inverness including a specialist School of Forestry; a Further Education Centre in Dingwall and a specialist aquaculture, fisheries management and research facility at Kishorn in Wester Ross.  In Lochaber we work in partnership with Lochaber College to offer courses from their campus in Fort William.

5 Academic Schools and a Centre for Rural Resource Management oversee the delivery of courses, ranging from 4 week introductory courses right through to 3 or 4 year long degree programmes, enabling students to progress from one level to another, step by step, gathering confidence and experience throughout their studies.

In the year 2000 the College was awarded the prestigious Investors in People (IiP) standard.  This national standard is based on the principle that the skills, knowledge and experience of our staff are a vital factor in the success or failure of an organisation.  By committing itself to the training and development of its staff, we are guaranteeing a highly-trained, well-motivated workforce offering up-to-date skills in the latest technology and the highest standard of lecturing, teaching and support to its students.

Whatever your background, ambitions or your current abilities we can offer you a range of options to enhance and develop your skills, knowledge and understanding and a friendly, welcoming and comfortable environment in which to do so.
