The Scottish Training Federation and Concept Northern are working in partnership to provide support services for National Training Providers who are working with Employability Fund candidates and Modern Apprentices with Additional Support Needs.
When supporting a typical employee with Additional Support Needs there are two interested parties involved: the employee and the employer. However, when supporting an apprentice there is an important third interested party: the apprentice’s Training Provider.
As part of our partnership Concept Northern can provide advice on how to best support your employability candidates and apprentices during their coursework and in employment. Through a Needs Assessment we identify barriers relating to learning, workplace and apprenticeship obligations and recommend solutions to support successful completion of their course and apprenticeship.
Concept Northern are the largest provider of assistive technology in Scotland, supporting in excess of 1,000 students/employees/EF candidates and organisations each year. Concept Northern feel passionately about supporting individuals with additional support needs to compete equally within the learning environment, workplace and within their apprenticeships.
We can support the following and many other additional support needs:
- Dyslexia and Co-occurring difficulties
- Dyslexia Screening
- Autism Support
- Physical Disabilities
- Visual Impairments
- Hearing Impairments
We can advise on suitable products, software, training and coaching and the funding available to your candidates and their employers to ensure full support is being accessed. We can also provide advice on good recruitment practice and the provision of awareness training.
Modern apprentices require specialist training to ensure they have the ability to meet the demands of their work role and their apprenticeship to ensure they can contribute equally within their roles. All of our specialist trainers working with apprentices have qualified as SQA Assessors to fully understand the needs of your candidate and you as the training provider.
As part of our commitment to fellow STF members, we are providing CPD certified dyslexia and disability awareness training with a 50% reduction on costs for members only. We will also provide advice and information on reasonable adjustment best practice free of charge.
Concept Northern will be happy to chat to you and discuss your particular needs.
