Skills Development Scotland is running two half day sessions for training providers to develop confidence when supporting hearing impaired individuals in apprenticeships and training.
The sessions will be held in Glasgow on 11 March 2016 – and in Edinburgh on 18 March 2016. Both sessions run from 9.30-12.00 and will be delivered by the Academy of BSL.
About the sessions
The sessions will cover:
- -The different types of deafness and how the trainers need to think about the needs of the individual trainees.
- -Deaf Awareness – the do’s and don’ts of communicating with a Deaf person
- -Equipment – what aids are available to support the trainee
- -Interpreters – how to use an Interpreter effectively to support the trainee
- -Short Q&A session.
An interpreter will be present to aid communication between the trainers and attendees.
Tea and coffee will be provided.
