SUMMARY:STF Workshop - Scottish Apprenticeship Awards & SAAB Apprenticeship Consultation (Glasgow)
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will cover two topics: \nScottish Apprenticeship Awards 2019 & SDS Marketing Support \nThe Scottish Apprenticeship Awards is the annual event to celebrate the best in apprenticeships. Nominations are now open – closing in June – and we can share advice\, hints and tips about best practice to ensure your entry stands out from the crowd. This session will talk you through how to get your nomination noticed\, new categories and what judges will be looking for when scoring entries. \nWe will also cover how to get involved in other national campaigns to promote apprenticeships; marketing support available all-year-round and developments on apprenticehips.scot \nScottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board (SAAB) Defining an Apprenticeship Consultation – what happens next?* \nThe SAAB consultation on Apprenticeships – held in late 2017 – asked for feedback on a range of issues including setting a minimum duration for each Apprenticeship Framework\, end assessment and the merits of mandatory off the job training. This session will update on the consultation results – and the next steps SAAB will take in addressing the issues raised. \n*Please note\, this is an updated version of the presentation given at the SQA Apprenticeship Workshop held on 1 March 2019. \n\nThis workshop is available free of charge to STF members and non-members. SUMMARY:STF Workshop - Cyber Security for training providers
DESCRIPTION:  \nGary Ennis\, NSDesign\n“Cyber Security” – what do you think?\n– Do you think “it won’t happen to me”?\n– Do you think it “only impacts big companies”?\n– Do you think the whole subject is “hype and overkill”? \nIf you answered yes to any of the above… Think again!\nWith more and more business processes moving into the cloud\, we need to be more cautious than ever\, defending against hacks\, exploits and scams. \nUnlike other workshops on the market\, we know you’re not an expert in networks\, security protocols\, or disaster recovery – so we promise not to hit you with jargon\, geek speak or advice only relevant to the banks! \nThis practical half day workshop is aimed at small business owners who want to embrace online opportunities\, while protecting themselves from the real-world dangers and their impact in today’s connected world. We’ll look at website security\, social media safety\, password protection and more. \nWe’ll give you best practice tips on dealing with common attacks such as phishing and social media impersonation\, while introducing you to the basics of the (Government approved) Cyber Essentials scheme. \nIn the last 12 months\, 40% of UK businesses have suffered a cyber-attack (source: gov.uk) and that figure will rise dramatically over the next 12. Cover the essentials\, increase your awareness\, and don’t be the next victim. \nThis workshop will be run by Gary Ennis\, NSDesign Ltd (pictured above) \nIf you would like to reserve a place\, please email Lynsay Bryce at: lynsay.bryce@stf.org.uk \n\nThis workshop is free to STF members. Non members are charged £30 per delegate\, subject to availability. \n\nAgenda – Cyber Security – Tuesday 26 March 2019 (PDF) \n\n
