Tigers is running an ITA (Individual Training Account) 2 day course for those who are present in the lives of children and young people.
Day 1 (21st July) will be delivered by TIGERS and special guest Dr. Suzanne Zeedyk, a research scientist and developmental psychologist. The day will begin with a screening of the renowned documentary, Resilience, that explores the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the effects toxic stress has on children and young people when their body is unable to adequately regulate internal anxiety. After the screening a Question and Answer session will take place with an experienced panel who will stimulate discussions around key findings from the documentary. In the afternoon workshops will take place which will delve deeper into short, medium and long-term solutions to tackling ACEs and discuss good practices and possible barriers within personal and working lives.
On completion of the first day’s training, access will be granted for our Making Scotland the World’s 1st ACE-Aware Nation National Conference at the SEC Armadillo (26th September) where we will be joined by Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, a dedicated paediatrician and founder of the Centre for Youth Wellness in San Francisco. Her work has seen her claim a number of accolades, be selected to present a TEDTalk, which now has over 5 million views, and release her own book, The Deepest Well ,earlier this year. She will be joined on stage by a number of speakers who also have vast experience with ACEs and working with children and young people.
