Alasdair MacRae, Head Of Business Development & Customer Support, SQA
Alasdair is a passionate believer in vocational education and training. Alasdair joined Bank of Scotland at the age of 18 in preference to a university place — a bold decision that divided parental opinion. It paid off, however, when a successful career in finance, spanning 17 years, culminated in the position of Director of Asset Finance.
Since 2009, Alasdair has been Head of Business Development & Customer Support at SQA – a role that combines his business experience and his commitment to education and training. He is responsible for teams working with training providers, colleges, employers and schools in Scotland and across the UK; a busy customer service centre; and a contracts pursuit team.
A Fellow of the Institute of Sales & Marketing Managers, Alasdair has successfully led his teams through significant changes in the education and training landscape in recent years. He also plays a strategic role in SQA, ensuring the customers’ voice is heard and delivering a service that meets their needs.
Alasdair will share his reflections on recent changes and future development with the STF audience and consider how we prepare today’s learners for the world of work tomorrow.
