Peter Russian, Chief Executive, Re:markable
Peter is the Chief Executive of Re:markable (formerly Investors in People Scotland) where he has been in post since 2003.
Since his appointment in 2003, Peter has led a major programme of change which has impacted on how Investors in People (IIP) is used to support change and employee engagement.
In 2014, he led the development and introduction of Investors in Young People (IIYP) which has now been adopted by more than 600 organisations. This has been followed by work to establish and standardise good practice in developing Boards. In 2017, Peter led the rebrand of the organisation to its new name Re:markable which responds to the changing business environment across Scotland and reflects an increasingly diverse product and service portfolio.
Peter is responsible for a team of 60, with 16 full time employees based at Ocean Point in Leith and 44 associates. He is a former non-executive Director of the Centre for Enterprise, the UK’s leading skills and enterprise think tank, Social Investment Scotland, and Aspire for Africa.
Peter represented Scotland on the UK Advisory Panel on Leadership and Management and is a former member of the CBI Council for Scotland, and National Training Award Judge, and is currently Chair of Devonshire House Scotland. In 2012 he was awarded the HR Network Award for Outstanding Contribution to HR in Scotland.
Previously Peter was Director of Development at Investors in People UK. He led the review of the Investors in People Standard in April 2000.
A Public Administration graduate from Sheffield Polytechnic, Peter has also worked for Westminster City Council and London Underground.
