Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has updated its Regional Skills Assessments (RSAs). RSAs provide a coherent evidence base on which to base future investment in skills, built up from existing datasets.
In this third iteration SDS has:
· Updated the data matrix and added some new datasets;
· Produced summary slide packs at various spatial levels:
o Local Authorities (including a composite islands pack for Eilean Siar, Orkney and Shetland);
o Regions based on Regional Outcome Agreement Areas (ROAs); and
o City Region Deal areas; and
· Produced extended slide packs for:
o ROA regions; and
o The South of Scotland, in the light of the plans by Government to develop a South of Scotland vehicle for enterprise and skills.
As in previous years, the RSAs highlight demand for skills, supply of people and skills and skills challenges. For the first time they also offer trends and forecasts at both regional and local authority level. Unlike in previous years, college and university data is not yet included, however this will follow early in 2017.
