Alasdair joined SQA in May 2023 as Head of Policy: HNCs/HNDs and SVQs. Prior to this he was the Chief Executive of Scottish Bakers, which he joined in January 2018 after many years working in Scotland’s vibrant skills and learning environment. In this role he was responsible for overall leadership of Scottish Bakers, setting the strategic direction and ultimately ensuring that the Association serves its membership effectively at all times.
He previously spent 13 years as Scotland Director of Creative Skillset (the industry skills body for the creative industries), building partnerships between industry, training providers and public-sector stakeholders to develop skills in the sector.
Prior to that, Alasdair was marketing manager with the Scottish Qualifications Authority where he led on the promotion of vocational qualifications and the development of digital communications.
