The main issues raised by members are given below:

December 2018

  • Individual Training Accounts: The sudden closing of new applications in this financial year – with very little advance notice – will impact on opportunities for candidates; it will also have financial consequences for members.

November 2018

  • Foundation Apprenticeships: Members have welcomed the change in the procurement process which now allows independent training providers to become lead bidders.
  • Scottish Government Review of Employability funded programmes: Concern about the future of employability programmes and the Employability Fund in Scotland. Specific concern around the possibility that new programmes will be delivered only via local authorities.
  • The future of the Employability Fund: Scottish Government has not confirmed if EF will continue in 2019. An announcement is expected after the publication of the Scottish Budget on 12 December.
  • FIPS validation process: Some members are still experiencing ongoing problems with validation emails and texts.
  • MA Online data inaccuracy: A member has reported a discrepancy between the MA content listed in the Framework document – and evidence requirements on MA Online.

September 2018

  • ESF Tagging: Concern about significant additional evidence requirements for ESF tagged MA trainees
  • Scottish Government Review of Employability funded programmes: Concern about the future of the Employability Fund in Scotland
  • Flexible Workforce Development Fund: Ongoing concern that this fund is restricted to colleges.
  • FIPS for EF providers: Concern about the lack of training and support for providers using FIPS for EF candidates
  • Administration burden for NTPs: General concern at the increasing administration in delivering National Training Programmes.

July 2018
