The Scottish Government is to undertake an evaluation of its Fair Work First policy.
Fair Work First is the Scottish Government’s flagship policy for driving high quality and fair work, as well as workforce diversity, across the labour market in Scotland. It does this by applying fair work criteria to public contracts, grants and other funding awarded by public sector organisations where relevant to do so. Through this approach, Scottish Government aims to support employers who adopt fair working practices.
To understand how effectively Fair Work First is being implemented, Scottish Government has commissioned independent researchers, Pye Tait Consulting, to carry out an evaluation. This research will explore what’s working well, what could be improved, and how the policy is impacting organisations and workers across Scotland.
Scottish Government is inviting employers who have won public contracts in Scotland to complete a short online survey to share their experiences. The person completing this questionnaire should be a member of senior management and must be able to answer on behalf of the organisation. Only ONE response should be submitted per organisation.
Responses will go directly to Pye Tait Consulting, will be treated confidentially, and reported anonymously to Scottish Government. The survey should take no more than 20 minutes to complete and will remain open until 23 January 2026.
