Skills Development Scotland has published Modern Apprenticeship statistics covering the period 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
The statistics show there were 24,849 Modern Apprenticeship starts in 2025/26, 2.6% (-658) lower than last year.
Other headlines include:
- The achievement rate was 80.3%, the highest recorded at Q4 to date.
- Female starts accounted for 41.2% of all starts this year, 1.7 pp higher than last year. female.
- In 2025/26, 17.0% of starts identified as disabled, 0.3 pp higher than last year.
The achievement rates of non-college providers continue to be significantly higher than for colleges. In 2025-26, the overall achievement rate for non-college providers was 81.5%, compared to 74.7% for colleges.
