The Scottish Qualifications Authority has presented its highest accolade, the SQA Fellowship, to Lorna Trainer, Director of l&g learning, at its annual Star Awards ceremony.
The SQA Fellowship is SQA’s premier award and is presented to individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to learning and training in Scotland over the course of their career.
After working as a senior social worker, and then as a senior lecturer and head of school in the college sector, Lorna set up l&g learning in 2006 to promote flexible learning and development services, including Modern Apprenticeships and employability programmes.

On presenting Ms Trainer with the SQA Fellowship, SQA Chair David Middleton, said: “Lorna has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to education, continuous professional development, and professional training throughout her career. The counsel, advice, and guidance she has offered not just to the Scottish Qualifications Authority, but to organisations across the country has been invaluable. She is a worthy recipient of SQA’s highest honour.”
Stuart McKenna, Chief Executive of the Scottish Training Federation said: “Lorna richly deserves this accolade – her passion and enthusiasm for skills and training is exceptional. She has been a real inspiration to thousands of learners over the years – and is highly respected by colleagues at STF.”
